Amelius,
Since you are located in France and show high Spanish matches, are you comfortable disclosing if you are ethnic French or Spanish?

New Merovingians samples in DNA Spotlight feature! I match 3.

NEW DNA SPOTLIGHTS: Merovingians! When the Western Roman Empire fell apart, they became the largest and most powerful western European state.- DNA Spotlight (FREE for all users) focuses on specific high interest DNA samples!
Similiar to Regional Archaeogenetics, you can learn about specific samples AND see how close you match.
- NEW Civlization: Merovingians! These Frankish Kings knew how to end the disarray in the post-Roman Era and unite the Barbarian tribes!

I was born in France, my father was born in France, and my mother was born in Spain.
I have always defined myself as French, but I imagine that ethnically I can say that I am half French and half Spanish.

Makes sense! :) It looks like your modern matches on the site are in central & eastern Spain. Are you comfortable with disclosing your top matches with Eurogenes K13 or K15? I sometimes wonder why commercial DNA companies like 23andMe group French and Germany together as I imagine that there could be significant regional differences around country borders.

* Edit: I just saw your Eurogenes EU Test results showing Spain, Portugal and French results. Seems like a good test for you. :)

Ah, I see that the Eurogenes EU Test results that you posted on that thread give a slightly different character to your results with Spanish, Portugal and French scores, albeit Spanish is the majority % so still seems consistent with the K13 and K15:

Yes, it seems consistent, although I thought my father would have a greater influence on my results as he is French.

MTA new feature - Ancient Haplogroup Analytics! This tool shows the maternal (mtDNA) and paternal (YDNA) haplogroup frequency of the ancient samples with which you share a match.

According to current anthropology research which find high R1B in western Euro countries like Great Britain and Ireland, I would therefore anticipate a heavy R1B result due to presumed mostly British ancestry. Two of my close DNA cousin matches and known IRL are I1 haplogroup whereas my father's haplogroup is R1B-U106 (relatively common in British Isles after R1b-L21). However, MTA's analytics could shift over time as more non-British & non-Western Euros test.

And the result is ... R1B!
